Как убрать слеши в конце url ?

В .htaccess стоят какие то условия на 301 редирект
ссылка вида /catalog по переходу заменяется на /catalog/

как конечные слеши убрать?
пробовал убрать слеш тут напр. (RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/catalog/$)
но так вообще не работает страница
